Does CBD Help with Sleep?

Now that CBD is legal in the United States and much of the world, it has been heralded as one of the most effective natural remedies for insomnia and trouble sleeping. Cannabidiol, one of the main cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, has a long history of being used as a sleep agent across the world. The question begs, will CBD help with your restlessness or lack of sleep? Read on below to learn more.

CBD & Sleep

Recent academic studies have linked CBD to a calming effect in the central nervous system, as well as value in aiding neuropsychiatric disorders (Shannon et al., 2019). What this means is, for many, CBD acts a natural sleep aid without the side effects of over the counter or prescription sleep medication.

Millions of Americans report issues with insomnia or difficulty falling and staying asleep, and they are waking up to the negative side effects of prescription or drugstore sleep aids. While easy to access, these drugs often report long lists of side effects including addiction, uneven heartbeats, and nausea.

Not to worry, CBD has arrived as a natural, non-addictive sleep aid. CBD is a non-intoxicating, non-habit forming alternative to traditional sleeping pills that fits into a whole body health care plan.

How CBD Works

Cannabinoids are the naturally produced chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. These power houses are the driving force behind feeling more relaxed and calm. CBD interacts with your body by promoting the binding of endocannabinoids already in your system. These receptors, called CB1 and CB2 receptors, are naturally found in the nervous system of the human body, so the gentle aid of CBD for sleep is simply promoting the process already happening within your system.

Getting Rest with CBD

The best way to perfect your sleep regimen with CBD is to experiment with a variety of methods and determine which feels the best for your body. CBD affects everyone differently based on the chemistry of their body and their tolerance. Use the below as a guide to get started:

If you mainly experience trouble falling asleep, a tincture may be best for you. Tinctures are CBD Oils that work by entering your system immediately and getting to work to relax your body. Tinctures can be taken orally direct from the dropper, or added to your favorite sleepy-time tea. We recommend 1 dropper full of 1000mg Tincture: 1 dropper = 33mg of CBD. Squeeze the dropper under your tongue or add to your favorite warm beverage or meal. Try 30-60 minutes before bedtime.

On the other hand, if you want a tasty treat before that is just as effective as our Tincture, try taking 1 of our CBD Bites in Lemon. One Bite will deliver 25mg of CBD. Try taking a Bite 60 minutes before bed as they take a little bit longer to break down.

If you experience both trouble falling asleep and trouble staying asleep, we recommend Restful Night CBD Blend. 1 capsule = 15mg of CBD. These capsules combine the powers of melatonin, magnesium and CBD to help you fall asleep quickly and stay asleep longer.  Try 30-60 minutes before bedtime.

CBD is becoming the premier alternative to sleep medication in the United States. Try it out for yourself to experience restful nights and productive days.
